This worked magically and quickly. I had accidently rubbed my husband's new & much-loved white pick up on one of the Chic FilA signs that was in front of one of their pull-ups. Thank You. I had that large ugly mark on top of my Odyssey for few years. Tried all kind of “SAFE” methods without any success. I kind of learned to live with it, but it was always bothering me when washing the vehicle. Having chemical background I always thought about trying acetone, but was afraid of damaging the paint. Today after reading this post and a beer, tried with magical success. Acetone works like a charm and evaporates instantly. To be on safe site wiped the area with wet rug and whole thing took just seconds.

This is not good advice. While it works, the clear coat will suffer as well. Boil water, pour the hot water on the surface and wipe with a microfiber. It works just as good.

Does the acetone damage the clear coat? I have a new 2024 car that’s got less than 1,000 miles. I’m wanting to try this, but concerned that it may damage the clear coat.

Hi I got some black scuff marks yesterday done by a truck that drove by my park Tesla and rubbed their car on my front bumper. No serious body damage just black scuff marks. Is acetone really safe to use on paint? I also have a white car. I will try this but on a small part first to test. Thanks

AWESOME! if i might add a detail: its not rubbing that gets the sap off, but the solvent effect of the acetone. I just used this to take off there + month old sap from pine trees. Took half an hour, the car was COVERED. But half an hour for a Kia Soul covered in pine sap, dried on? VERY nice, thank you!
